hi, i’m hannah.

I’m Hannah Zackney—a licensed marriage and family therapist, longtime yoga practitioner and teacher, retreat leader, educator, speaker, and the founder of Heart Wide Open Wellness.

For more than 30 years, I’ve been exploring the places where psychology, movement, mindfulness, spirituality, creativity, relationships, and our everyday lives intersect. My work began with yoga long before it became my profession, and eventually expanded into psychotherapy, trauma-informed care, somatic and mind-body practices, retreats, groups, teaching, and building community.

For many years, Heart Wide Open grew alongside me. What began as my own work eventually became a therapy practice, a team of clinicians, a women’s membership community, workshops and intensives, a podcast, and retreats around the world. I loved creating spaces where people could step outside of their normal routines, connect more honestly with themselves and one another, and remember parts of themselves that can get lost in the busyness of life.

Today, Heart Wide Open is evolving again.

After years of building and leading the therapy practice, I passed Heart Wide Open Therapy into new ownership so I could create more space for the work that continues to call me most deeply.

Heart Wide Open Wellness is that next chapter.

My work now brings together decades of experience in psychology and emotional wellness with yoga, intentional movement, mindfulness, travel, creativity, education, community, and whole-person healing. Through retreats, therapeutic intensives, continuing education and professional development for therapists, workshops, trainings, consultation, podcasts, writing, speaking, and other experiences, I want to create opportunities for people to slow down, get curious, reconnect, and experience themselves in a different way.

I believe deeply in therapy—and I also believe healing doesn't happen only in a therapy room.

Sometimes it happens on a yoga mat. Around a dinner table. On a trail. In another country. Through music or art. In a room full of people willing to be real with one another. Or in the quiet that finally arrives when we step away from the noise of our everyday lives.

My approach has always been holistic, curious, compassionate, and deeply human. I’m interested in what helps us feel more alive and connected—not simply what is “wrong” or needs to be fixed. I love psychology and depth, but I also believe growth can include laughter, beauty, adventure, movement, play, rest, and joy.

I like to go deep without making everything heavy.

At this stage of my life and work, I'm less interested in telling people how they should live and much more interested in creating experiences that help people hear themselves more clearly.

That is what Heart Wide Open Wellness is becoming: a place where psychology meets wellness, where personal growth can feel expansive rather than clinical, and where there is room for both depth and joy.

I’m glad you’re here.
